Lunar Log is in orbit

Lunar Log is out. It is on the App Store, on Google Play and in the browser at app.lunarlog.me. No waitlist, and no account needed to start.

Dreams fade within minutes of waking. The window for catching one is short and you are in no state to use a normal app during it: eyes barely open, thumbs slow, the memory already thinning. Lunar Log was designed backwards from that moment.

Three words counts as an entry

The home screen opens straight into a capture field. You can murmur into it or type with your eyes shut, and three words is a valid dream. It saves as you go, with or without a connection. You finish it over coffee if you want to, on the phone or in the web app. The recording is kept alongside the text, so months later you can hear yourself tell it again.

Everything else is organized by the journal itself: the people and places that recur, the moon phase over each entry, recall and lucid rates, the patterns across a year of dreaming. Write @Anna or @the beach once and they become places of their own. A library of more than 500 Jungian dream symbols is there when you want to look one up.

Yours, on your device

The journal is written to your own device and works offline. An account is optional: it syncs your devices and never takes the local copy away. The journal has a lock of its own, separate from your phone’s. There is no social feed and there are no ads. One tap exports everything as Markdown.

What it taught the lab

Build for the worst version of the person, and the best version gets a better app too.

That line became the lab’s brief. Interfaces that work at 3 a.m. also work on a train, in a queue, or with a child on one arm. Privacy that survives a dream journal survives anything.

What stays free

Journaling in Lunar Log is free, forever: writing, reading, organizing, searching and exporting. Luna, the AI layer, with interpretations grounded in your own journal and a companion that has actually read it, is the paid part, because it costs real money to run. Nothing you have already written is ever locked away. That split is the model for every app that follows, and the founding note explains why.
